Training

To reduce the likelihood of medication related incidents, the training of staff and competency assessment will be essential to the successful implementation of this Policy and associated Standard.

The reading of the Safe and Secure Handling, Administration and Supply of Medicines POLICY and Safe and Secure Handling, Administration and Supply of Medicines STANDARD will be recorded on the Document Management System and compliance to the read will be audited. 

In house training programme will support safe medication practice and include the following:

• Corporate Induction Programme. 
• Clinical Induction
  • IV skills day 
• eLearning modules 
• Specific training identified within the medicines guideline
• Specific training required for the delivery of services

The Learning and Development team will support development of training programs and provide training to enable staff to be signed off as competent.
